Sales invoice in Excel: fill the lines, the sheet works out what is left to pay, then print.

At the top are the business name, address and phone, the invoice number and date, and the customer; then twenty lines, each with an item, quantity and unit price, and the line total is computed. Below come the subtotal, discount, total, paid and remaining. The sheet is set to A4, one page wide, so it prints as you see it. This is the general invoice; if your trade is specific, choose the invoice for your trade from the invoice tool page, which has columns made for a pharmacy, auto parts and others.

The computed columns
QtyUnits sold on this line.
DiscountA fixed amount taken off the subtotal, not a percentage. Type 0 or leave it empty for none.
RemainingTotal − paid: what the customer still owes.

When the sheet stops being enough

Here the invoice is a sheet you fill and number by hand each time. In Dashing the invoice is built from the sale itself, numbered when saved, printed or sent as a PDF or on WhatsApp, and the remaining amount is added to the customer's balance so it shows on their statement.

Common questions

How many lines fit on the invoice?

Twenty lines on one A4 page. If an invoice runs longer, copy the sheet for a second invoice rather than squeezing the lines.

How do I print it on a single page?

Printing is preset: A4 portrait, one page wide. Press print, or save as a PDF to send on WhatsApp. Edit the business name, address and phone once and keep the file as your template.

What about tax?

This invoice has no tax column. If you issue a tax invoice, use the tax invoice tool, or add a column and change the total formula.

Dashing does this for every item, automatically, in your shop.
